Hanin identifies as a Palestinian, cisgender woman. She is currently able-bodied and has a slim body size. She has lived in Minnesota since 2011 and grew up in both Iowa and Palestine. She also has two adult stepchildren. Her passion for this work is deeply rooted in her lived experiences as a Palestinian child of immigrant parents.

Hanin’s work focuses on helping people feel more resourced, expanding their network of support, and reclaiming mental health as a collective, community-centered experience, especially within those communities that are historically and systematically excluded. She is informed by social justice and anti-oppression frameworks and is grounded in offering support, compassion, and empowerment.

The name Hanin comes from the Arabic word ‘hanoon’ and means compassion, kindness, warm-heartedness, and love, which she strives to embody everyday. When not at work, Hanin loves to prioritize time to connect with her family and friends, to learn Tatreez (traditional Palestinian embroidery) and Doumbek (traditional Arabic percussion), to read fantasy books, and to care for her house plants. |
Collaboration, Curiosity, and Consent
|
Hanin is a certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) clinician and a Phase 1 Brainspotting Practitioner. She blends evidence-based tools from DBT with the attuned, body-based awareness of Brainspotting to help clients feel more grounded, connected, and in control of their emotional world. In her sessions, Hanin brings curiosity, mindfulness, and compassion, creating space for clients to build insight, develop practical coping skills, and gently release what no longer serves them. Her work centers on resilience, self-understanding, and honoring the complexity of cultural identity—supporting clients in exploring how their stories, values, and lived experiences shape their sense of self and belonging.

|
Hanin is dedicated to reflecting on and deconstructing her own internalized beliefs and biases. She continues to reassess how she contributes and maintains ongoing white supremacy, cis and hetero normativity, and inequalities in our healthcare system. Hanin hopes to create and foster an environment that is inclusive, respectful, safe, and welcoming communities targeted for marginalization.
